716KNIT MINI SOCK PATTERN

Knit toe up on magic loop, but adaptable to other methods

Mini Sock Ornament/Garland

Materials: Fingering weight yarn (+/-6 grams, 35 yrds)

Needle: US 1 or 1.5 or 2 

Pattern written for Magic Loop or 2 Circular Needles


Figure 8 cast on 8 stitches (4 per needle)


Round 1: Knit all

Round 2: (KFB, k1, KFB, k1) *Repeat on Needle 2*

Round 3: Knit all

Round 4: (KFB, k3, KFB, k1) *Repeat on Needle 2*

Round 5: Knit all

Round 6: (KFB, k5, KFB, k1) *Repeat on Needle 2*

Round 7: Knit all

Round 8: (KFB, k7, KFB, k1) *Repeat on Needle 2*

Round 9: Knit all

Round 10: (KFB, k9, KFB, k1) *Repeat on Needle 2*

Rounds 11-24: Knit all


Round 25: Needle 1: knit all (14 sts)

Needle 2: KFB, k11, KFB, k1 (16 sts)

Round 26: Knit all (30 sts)

Round 27: Needle 1: knit all (14 sts)

Needle 2: KFB, k13, KFB, k1 (18 sts)

Round 28: Knit all (32 sts)

Round 29: Needle 1: knit all  (14 sts)

Needle 2: KFB, k15, KFB, k1 (20 sts)

Round 30: Knit all (34 sts)

Round 31: Needle 1: Knit all  (14 sts)

Needle 2: KFB, k17, KFB, k1 (22 sts)

Round 32: Knit all (36 sts)


For the next section you will be Wrap & Turning the heel on Needle 2


Round 33: Needle 1: knit all (14 sts)

            Needle 2:Row 1: k17, W&T

            Needle 2:Row 2: p12, W&T

            Needle 2:Row 3: k11, W&T

            Needle 2:Row 4: p10, W&T

            Needle 2:Row 5: k9, W&T

            Needle 2:Row 6: p8, W&T

            Needle 2:Row 7: k7, W&T

            Needle 2:Row 8: p6, W&T

            Needle 2:Row 9: k5, W&T

            Needle 2:Row 10: p4, W&T

Needle 2:Row 11: k4, knit 4 sts with wraps, sssk1, turn, slip 1

Needle 2:Row 12: p8, purl 4 sts with wraps, p3tog, turn, slip 1

            Needle 2:Row 13: k12, ssk, turn, slip 1

            Needle 2:Row 14: p12, p2tog, turn, slip 1

            Needle 2:Row 15: k12, ssk, turn, slip 1

            Needle 2:Row 16: p12, p2tog, turn, slip 1

Needle 2:Row 17: k12, ssk, continue to resume knitting in the round


Round 34: Needle 1: Knit all    Needle 2: k2tog, k13


Rounds 35-54: Knit all


Rounds 55-59: *K1, p1* repeat till end of row 


Loosely bind off.


Use tail to create loop to hang sock on tree or garland or use a bulb safety pin. 

                                    


Garland instructions: I-cord

6-10 grams of yarn and needles that are 2 sizes larger than recommended needle size. (Ex. If using fingering use size 4 or 5 needles) 


Cast on 5 stitches.

Knit 1 row

Main Row: Do not turn work for next row, slide stitches to right edge of needle and knit all 

Repeat Main Row until desired length is achieved

Cut tail and pull through live stitches to end i-cord. 

Adorn with mini socks and enjoy!

St(s) : Stitch(es)

K : knit

P : purl

K2tog : knit 2 together

P3tog : purl 3 together

Sssk : slip, slip (the wrap), slip knit slips together (2 sts decreased)

KFB: knit front and back

W&T : Wrap and turn
